I...uh.
...hit a home run the other day.
Note how I said "the other day," as in I can't remember.
The past four days have been a big, black void. The next week may be a void as well.
And the week after that.
And that.
And that.
.....

I'm alive. Yey.
Double D's been pressuring me to write for ages, so here ya go, Dougie.
Nothing's really changed. I don't really steal bases like I used to, but boy, can I hit.
2005 me
282 AB, 50 R, 14 2B, 0 3B, 0 HR, 17 RBI, 34 BB, 41 K, 44 SB, 9 CS, .294/.369/.713
2006 me
297 AB, 62 R, 18 2B, 6 3B, 2 HR, 32 RBI, 37 BB, 53 K, 27 SB, 12 CS, .269/.349/.740
Hope Gooch gets back into the lineup soon. I think I'm gonna arm-wrestle Pablo Ozuna for the leadoff spot today.

So just who hit a home run last night.....?
I did!
I stole third yesterday too. Felt amazing. Ya'll don't know what I'm feelin' right now.
It must be these new protein shakes I'm takin'. Heh heh.
Mark, you ready for tonight, bro?

I can't run....
...pretty much because I can't eat.
There ya go. I said it.
I, Scott Eric Podsednik, esq. I, have an eating disorder.
Edit:
I just weighed myself, I'm down to 165.
I feel sick.

I've been getting a few of my mechanics back. I'm trying to run again, but truthfully, I'm still in a lot of pain. Blah.
Magic number is down to five now? A shame we couldn't clinch at home, but I guess you can't always get what you want, eh?
Jon, I'm sorry I kept you up all night....
....with my cooking. Heh heh.
What did you think I was gonna say?
Hope your game isn't affected by that at all.

Alright, so I'm walking in Boston and I see one of those fortune telling machine thingees with the scary lady of possibly eastern european descent hovering over the crystal ball.
I put a quarter in, and this strip of paper comes out that says, YOU'RE HEADED TO THE DL, YOU SORRY SON OF A BITCH.
Well, actually it said some crap about virtue and being an anchor of wisdom for others, but we all know that's bullshit anyway.

I'm not talking about myself in the third person. I'm merely making a reference to that one movie. You know, that movie, with the....eh, forget it.
I can't believe I took the lead over Jeter already. I think I'm going to like, cry or something if I actually do make the All-Star Team. You know, being in the minors for 9 years and stuff. Really sucked.
T-Minus 7 hours until the vote ends. I'm gonna sneak to the clubhouse computer and vote for myself between snacking on Nutella smothered on a butter knife.
Mmmm. Nutella. Great. Now I feel fat.

And on Fridays back in the 80's, I was always in bed by 8.
And home by 11. Oooh-yah!
P.S.

That's what I said to my ex-girlfriend when she threatened to take away my 8x10's of Jon that are taped to the inside of my suitcase. YOU DO NOT mess with the 8x10's of Gar-boy. Good thing she didn't see the voodoo doll I keep under my bed (I wish it could be 6'6"...sigh), or else she would have fuckin' flipped.
And today's an off day! Whee! I think a few of the relievers are in the next room having an absinthe party. Good for them. Some of them went out shopping, I saw Rowand come back with a couple of large bags from Vickie's. I think his cup size MUST be a 38A. Too bad I didn't get to see Jon. He's probably sipping on martinis with his snooty-ass California posse, while I sit here jerk....ing out of a deep sleep.
Yeah. I was taking a nap a little while ago. That's what I was doing
After my nap, I counted the various scars on my legs and arms (I'm up to 73 now). I also drew on my baseball card collection! This one is my favorite:

Hee. Gotta love those glasses.

Mark Buehrle and I have been betting on the Connie's Pizza Races that take place in the 7th inning.
So today the pizza race comes up and Mark decides he wants to raise the stakes.
"I bet CHEESE is going to win today."
And I'm all, "yeah, what do you got?"
I already have all his Pokemon cards, his maxed-out platinum Visa, and his collection of antique civil war revolvers, so he offered me the one thing he hasn't given up of his:

AND GUESS WHAT. PEPPERONI WON.
WOW. I now have 27 stolen bases AND two souls. They don't put this shit on ESPN stat tracker.

It seems that in Czech the translation is "podsednik". It dates from around 1800. It was found in the marriage document of an ancestor. It is not in my copy of the German Genealogical Dictionary.
So it's Czech, not Russian or Polish. Hmm.
I enjoy these close Russian translations more, however:
podsvetchnik - candlestick podsnezhnik - snowflake podsolnetchnik - sunflower
So being an aspiring linguist, "pod" in the Czech language means "under", the "nik" referrs to the individual, meaning someone with this last name back in the old country was not of very high social status.
Yep, this confirms it:
PODSEDEK or PODSEDNIK (in German Untersasser or Podsedker). Peasant, his social-economical status was between farmer and cottager. He hired plot by bigger farmer, unlike the farmers who were renters of the feudal landlords. Podsednik had up to 10 acres of arable fields, whereas big farmers, owned about 40 acres, i.e. +4x more.
Hrrm. I can afford more than 10 acres of land in Southern Russia.
Hell I can afford eleven, even.
